phone lockout while untouched

Recently my iPhone 13 mini has started locking me out without me even touching it, let alone entering any passcode. It’ll be in my pocket and when I take it out to use it, tonight it was 15 mins lockout— thought that meant you had to have entered an incorrect passcode 9 times?! It’s new and I’ve only had it 5 months. How can it be fixed?? Absurd.

Not absurd at all.

If you put the phone in your pocket, any "rub" against your leg is going to be interpreted as a touch. The wrong code gets entered and then you are locked out if this happens too many times.

The phone is simply doing what you are telling it to do.

Want to avoid getting locked out?

Open Settings

Tap Accessibility

Tap Touch

Tap on Tap to Wake and Turn it Off

Now you won't be able to input anything on your screen when your iPhone is stored in your pocket. However, you will need to tap the power button to wake your phone up, so it may take a few times before you are used to this.
