I’m having issues transferring data from an XS to 14. I was able to do a temporary backup on the XS that will last for 21 days. It doesn’t allow me to select that backup to transfer to the new phone

iPhone XR, iOS 17
First of all setup your new iPhone 14 with the same Apple ID & password you have on your old device.
Check if the new device has an iOS version ≥ to the one running on your old iPhone when you created that backup. (shouldn't be this case, update your new iPhone to the latest iOS version, now 17.1.1).
Then use these instructions:--> Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup
