I keep getting messages that my version of macOS High Sierra is not high enough for me to update certain software like "Google". There is no "System Updates in my Apple Tool bar. Please advise what do I do?

If your Mac is too "old" to be upgraded past macOS High Sierra, then you will not be able to run certain apps as you now know. If you must use a particular software app, you may need to upgrade to a newer Mac.
