Apple TV 4K needs frequent reset

I purchased a new Apple TV 4K to take advantage of eARC connection to my Samsung TV and streaming audio to a stereo pair of original HomePods. This setup works well to listen to any TV audio regardless of source. If I decide to listen to music through the HomePods using my iPhone as the controller all works well too. Unfortunately when I want to return to watching TV I frequently find the audio has switched to TV speakers and the Apple TV unresponsive to the Apple TV remote. Power cycling the Apple TV resolves the issue. Seems like there is an issue with tvOS where this circumstance causes the Apple TV to go off line.
