AirTag notification keeps turning on

I have an AirTag that I just got it recently, and the notification that I left it behind keeps popping up on my watch. I go to the AirTag in the find my friends app, and turn it off, and then may be a day or so later I’ll get the notification again whenever I leave the presence of the AirTag. And I can go back to the Find My app and I’ll see that notifications are turned back on again, it’s kind of frustrating. If I can’t get rid of this, this AirTag is gotta go.

Hello,

To temporarily disable these notifications:

Open the Find My app and select the AirTag.
Tap the "Items" tab and toggle off "Notify When Left Behind."
Close the app and restart your device.

With Notify When Left Behind, your iPhone will alert you when you leave a supported Apple device, AirTag or Find My network accessory at an unknown location. Find out how to set up Notify When Left Behind in the Find My app. And add locations where you don't want to be notified if something's left there.

I already did that many times but the alerts keep popping up. Is there anything that can be done permanently?

Did you ever find an answer? I have the same thing and it's driving me nuts! I share the AirTags with my partner and she has somehow never had this problem. What's the deal?!
