iPhone 15 Pro bluetooth stutter when connected to a car

When your bluetooth stutters (or used to stutter) would the sound pause/stop, then continue where it left off, or would it pause/stop then continue as if it were continuing to play during the silence?

Fortunately I have 3 months of Apple Music for free. Turned that on and now i see the setting. It was already set to Off so I don't know if this was causing my issues. But we will see.

Thank you for the suggestion. Completely deleted my phone from my car (phone and streaming media-wise) and deleted my car from my bluetooth connections list on my phone. Hoping the combination of this and the Music setting will do the trick. If so, I'm hoping that when my free Music subscription runs out I'm not right back where I started with this issue.

I guess this is still not fixed. My iPhone 15 and my wife's iPhone 14 have this issue with our 2022 Toyota Rav4. Car play stops and starts constantly and the head unit reboots randomly. Never had this issue with our old iPhone XS. We both are running the latest ios 17.5.1.

For me this started with my iPhone 13 Pro and continued after I upgraded to the iPhone 15 PM. For the record I drive a 2015 Honda CRV. CarPlay isn’t an option for me. I updated my phone to iOS 18 and still had the same problem. It actually seemed worse if that’s possible. Just updated to iOS 18.1 tonight so we’ll see if that does anything though I’m not the least bit hopeful.

I’ve tried so many different “fixes” that don’t actually fix anything. This is definitely an iOS issue that, it seems, Apple is choosing to ignore.

Yes, I have this issue with an iPhone 15 Pro. It is not present with my older 13 Pro. Connecting to an 2010 era Toyota stereo.

“Interference” is certainly not the cause of this.

I'm turning off alerts for this thread, since my wipe and re-install fixed my problems. Best of luck to you all, good info on bluetooth interference.

In a way I'm glad to see that others have this issue. Looking at the post dates it's been ongoing. I've been experiencing the choppy play with my iPhone 15 pro connected to my Volvo XC60 and with my AirPods A2031 (which is baffling). The connectivity issue with my car started a couple of months ago. Since I work from home it's been an annoyance up to this point. Planning a couple of road trips soon so I would love to get this fixed before then. Hoping iOS 18 fixes the issue. In the meantime...

I've tried forgetting the devices in bluetooth settings, rebooting the phone and reconnecting as suggested in some YouTube vids but that did not work.

Tried reviewing the settings for the Podcast app (use that exclusively in the car) to make sure it was using WiFi and Cellular data to download music but all settings look to be correct.

In paging through the thread I see many with similar issues but, correct me if I'm wrong, no one from Apple sharing a solution. Did see 1 reply but nothing in it touched on car connectivity.

It’s been three month since I bought iPhone 15 pro max.

I have been suffering since then even with IOS 18.

I hate that their support guys use chat GPT to answer our issues 😏. Any luck or we should retrieve back to Samsung?

Where exactly is that setting? I’m looking at Settings->Apps->Music and I don’t see anything on sound quality. On iPhone 15 pro with latest iOS. I have music saved in Apple Music but I’m not a member

Hi, this is not the case for most of us. The sound in air pods is crystal clear. The problem is when connected to car bluetooth system. I did uninstallation and re-installation with most apps and nothing solved.

this is simply untrue, you seem to be the only one in this thread that has actually said it worked fine with airpods, while I've seen at least 3 people who said that they had stuttering with airpods as well and multiple who haven't even mentioned / tried with airpods and/or said they had stuttering with any bluetooth device.

As I myself have the same issue with both my car and JBL bluetooth speakers, I'd advise you to at least give it a try.

the Nothing Ear stick stutters if I connect both devices at the same time, it's boring that when I get a phone call, I need to disconnect the watch 👀, however the Air pods works fine with Huawei watch fit 3. So I think apple's eco system wins here and doesn't let you to connect all these non-native apple BT devices.

After resetting the phone back to factory settings, downloading the apps I had pre-reset and setting things up to my liking I was stutter free...for about 3 weeks or so. Between the time I got it set up and the stuttering started again the only app I loaded was GarageBand and I recreated my lost ringtones.

I've read through some of the updates and see that people tried different ways to connect their phone and that someone suspected the Apple Watch is the issue. I don't recall any of the posts stating that the poster had an Apple Watch (but I may be wrong). I do have 1 and plan on trying the fix posted this week. Anything to keep from wiping my phone again.

I'm having the same issues. Across multiple connected Bluetooth devices. Some days it's better than others and I only get a couple of dropouts. Other days it's every 5-10 seconds. Most days it's annoying to the point that I'm seriously considering ditching this platform as there doesn't seem to be a fix and none forthcoming.

Same problem. Disappointing to find my new iPhone 15 Pro is stuttering with my 2011 Toyota FJ stereo.

Exact same issue. Never had this issue on my past iPhones, and my android works fine via Bluetooth to my vehicle. Really annoying issue.
