Edited photo appears different in library once saved after editing.
On my iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 17.1, I will edit a photo, and then tap “done”, then once back in my library the photo appears different than what it looked like in the ‘edit screen’.
It doesn’t happen all the time. Although it has happened with various ‘types’ of photos. The example I show here is a photo I took of a zoomed in television screen. Sometimes it happens with screenshots, photos of objects, photos of people, landscapes, night photos, day photos…
So in other words, going in and out of the edit screen (after making the edits) the photo goes from the way I would like it to appear (in the edit screen) to something completely different and usually worse(imo) (in the library/album/recents screen).
As soon as I complete the edit and click “done” the photo loses the edits I spent time on, whilst simultaneously not even having the same appearance as the original.
It’s maddening that I can’t make an edit that is properly reflected in saved photo. If I go to share the photo in an email or message, the shared photo does not look like the edited photo!
This is the original photo 📸
(For some reason it uploaded it sideways, the original photo is not sideways… another weird situation 🙄)
This is after my edits🛠️, whilst still in the ‘edits screen’ 🎛️🖥️
This is what it looks like after tapping ‘done’📲
Here is side-by-side comparison… original (I had to change the file size for it to upload to the correct orientation… weird)-saved edit-actual edits in ‘edit screen’ (I cropped it so you can more easily see edits)
