How do you delete clips from disk from final cut pro?

After importing my clips into my library and using the "Leave files in place" setting on import, can I scrub the files in Final Cut Pro and delete files from the library and disk from Final Cut Pro? I feel like I have tried all import options and when I delete the clips in Final Cut Pro it says "Media Moving to Trash" with the note that "External files remain where they are" they delete from Library but remain on disk. Is there a way where when I delete from the Library it also deletes from disk? I have tried importing with the "Copy to Library" option but same thing happens. Please advise, thanks!

This is a safety feature of FCP. It will never delete footage that is external to the library. As LocaAlicia notes, you do this in the Finder or I believe something like Final Cut Library Manager will allow you to manage your library's external media.
