why does my Mac OS say it is up to date, when it is not.

My MacBook Pro 13 inch, 2017, with four thunderbolt ports, will not update past Ventura 13.6.1.

According to the Apple specs it should be able to update to the new OS, but it only says it is up to date already.

Is this because I don't have enough room on my hard drive? and if so, would it not just say that?

Any help appreciated.

There is no inherent problems with moving data from your 2017 computer to a new MacBook Pro. There are the usual things that may pop up, like:

  • May need to update printer drivers
  • Apps compatibility with the new silicon macs

There will be no problem with pictures, settings, or documents moving over. Since the Silicon Macs have been out for a while now, there should be no problem with app compatibility and if you use AirPrint for printing, there are no drivers to worry about.
