Sort photos in Finder, based upon the "Content created" date

I need to sort photos in Finder based upon the "Content created" date. Three different cameras were used in this photo session, but there is no option in Finder to add this criteria to the sort options. So how can I add this sorting criteria based upon the time and date the content was created (ie when the photo was taken?)

Nope, guys. LisaTom (me) was NOT wanting to sort photos in the Photos app. I wanted to sort them in a folder, created on my desktop, using the one folder that was created from images that were imported from 3 separate Nikon camera SD cards from 3 different photographers. So I created a File folder on my desktop and copied all of the files (photos) from the 3 SD cards into this folder. Then sorted the files/photos by date created and once I verified that they were arranged in the correct sequence by date/time taken (created), I then used the rename function to rename all of them, which kept them in the correct order.

Old Toad is showing you the menu from Mac Photos' "File>Export>Export nn Photos." With this, Photos is exporting pictures as you may have changed them with edits and crops and such, so you can also choose different sizes and formats.

The dialog you show comes from choosing "File>Export>Export Original Unmodified Photos." Since that's exporting originals, there is no choice about size and quality and format-- they'd all be the same as they were when the pictures were imported-- it's the original files.

The point of the original post was to export pictures in a chosen order and, as your screenshot shows, that part is just the same. You can manually sort the pictures in a Photos Album in the order you want, and then you can export them with sequential numbering so they'll be in the same order in Finder, even if the dates wouldn't work. You get file names like this:

I started the name with Picture#, but you can use any name you choose.

Thanks Old Toad for the suggestion. I remembered doing this in the past, but had forgotten this technique. Reading your post helped me remember what I did several years ago.

After I copied all of the images into an album in Photos, I then physically moved them into the proper order that I was looking for. I had to do this arrangement manually because some scenic sites were taken on 2 different days and I wanted them all grouped properly as to the scene. After I had arranged them in the order that I wanted, then I exported with your tip above about "sequential" organizing them---viola!! It worked. Thanks again for the tip.

After reading several threads on this general topic, it looks like this is exactly what I'll be needing to do (in order to facilitate a logical Sort/Display by date taken in the Finder itself, independent of any processing/exporting via the Photos app).

Couple of questions: 1) Would "A Better Finder Rename" actually need to be the companion "Better Finder Attributes", or are those two now combined into a single utility?

2) Do any (or all) of the three you mentioned support batch changing the Time (by a user determined +/- amount of hours & minutes) or the Time Zone, with or without adjusting the numerical value being displayed -- in other words, change all the selected files from 9:10am EDT (and onwards) to 6:10am (and onwards) PDT, OR change all the selected files from 9:10am EDT (and onwards) to 9:10am (and onwards) PDT? Adjustments that were always relatively easy to make in Apple's still-lamented Aperture, and required the "intervention" of no 3rd party app whatsoever.

3) And finally, would Adobe Bridge be another candidate worth considering in the EXIF-editing line up, again just to try and make up for The Finder and Photos EXIF shortcomings?

All opinions appreciated.
