Samsung EasyPrinter Manager under macOS 11 Big Sur
Apple blocks the use of this very useful tool. Is there any substitute or workaround? That e.g. shows the amount of ink left?
Thank you for yor answers! Hening

I have used a Samsung ML2955ND laser with AirPrint on Big Sur and without any Samsung drivers, and with the printer powered, I can see the amount of toner left. The Samsung Easy Printer Manager software works on Big Sur, just as it continues to work on Sonoma 14.1.1 — but you have to allow it as the developer is not recognized.
Turn on and ensure that your Samsung Printer is active.
When you attempt to launch Easy Printer Manager, a dialog will appear that the developer is not recognized. Click Cancel, and then immediately visit System Preferences : Security & Privacy panel and you will see that you can allow Easy Printer Manager to be recognized and run. Immediately thereafter, you will also receive a similar dialog that DaemonManager also cannot be verified, and you click its Cancel button and allow it in Security and Preferences panel too.
If Easy Printer Manager is running, then quit it and then relaunch it. It should detect your printer and in the case of my Samsung laser, show this:
and without Easy Printer Manager running, and choosing the Printers entry and its Supply Levels, I get this for my Samsung laser configured for Apple's built-in AirPrint:
Hi!
I have removed the cover lid from the Ethernet hole and found, that it is in fact only
a chassis hole without a port. I had done this before reading your helpful posts, Jan Hedlund, thank you for these.
My memory failed me earlier, I had in fact already downloaded the HP driver for MacOS 11, but not installed it.
I have done this now. During the process, I am offered a printer C43X and chose it. Then I am alerted that printer C43X already exists, and I'm asked if I want to add the printer. Yes. Install process is called successful.
Now when I try to print, there are 3 printers C43X: C43X Series, ~ Series 2, ~ Series 3.
Series 2 is pre-selected. If I try to print from it, I get the RasterToSec and Prefilter alerts. Same for the 2 others.
So the next step should be to reset the Mac printing system and install the software for an M2070. I am a bit scared, but it seems to be the only hope. I'll embark on that tomorrow...
Thanks again!
Hi BDAqua,
I have done that and come to this (screenshot). But I don't understand what I should do here. My printer is not connected via WiFi, but USB cable. And it has no Ethernet exit. -?

Hi Jan Hedlund,
on the HP site, I can't chose any other driver than the V3.93.01, as long as I also chose my actual OS, 11. That goes also for the SL-M2070 printer. If I cheat and chose OS 12, I am offered a driver V3.93.08. Should I really try that? If it fails, will a TimeMachine backup save me?
Hello again,
Normally, incorrect or inappropriate printer drivers should not render a computer completely unusable, but it cannot be ruled out that software conflicts lead to data loss. A good idea is to have at least three independent backup copies on different media.
The V3.93.08 universal driver appears to be supported for macOS 12 Monterey and macOS 13 Ventura. It is possible that this could also work under an earlier (or later) OS version, but I don't know. So, everything would be experimental.
Wow!
A first test print from Text edit is successful.
afterwards, there is an icon of the printer in the Dock, named 'Samsung C43 Series 2', a warning triangle and the number 10, which seems to be a count of print attempts with the earlier downloaded V3.93.01 driver.
Test print from PhotoLine also successful. The Dock icon shows unchanged count number.
So this seems to be a success as far as printing goes.
Many thanks to you who helped!
Questions left:
(How) can I see the ink levels under this driver?
(How) can I get rid of this Dock icon with the count number?
Should I try to uninstall the V3.93.01 driver explicitly? I think I remember there was an uninstall option in the download.
I can't. The Download contains an Uninstall package, but if I run it, the text says INstall. -
If I select the Dock icon, right-click it and chose 'Show in Finder', I see 3 entries, Samsung C43x Series.app, ~series2.app, ~series3.app. I think these are occourrencies of the V3.93.01 driver. Should/could I delete them all manually? Will the V3.93.08 driver still work?
How do they block it?
Have you tried Right Clicking on it & choosing Open?
Sure. But I get these 2 alerts that VikingOSX describes.
Thank you BDAqua, I'll try that asap. - I try to click the 'Helpful' button, but nothing happens. ?

No problem though.
Open Safari, and in the address bar, type: localhost:631/printers into the address bar.
Click on your printer & look for Administer or something like that...
Yes I used that Add Pic icon. It has worked with other screen shots, but this one obviously contained something that Apple didn't like.
Ah, yes, have had that happen before, & one time it posted by itself, but not along with any text which also posted fine by itself‽
What happens if you Right click on the icon in the Dock & choose Open?
