Why did iPhone beep and say "Scanning your Device"?

It’s been happening to me lately too while reading news articles from iPad. Happened just now on the NY Post web site so I screen recorded it. Didn’t beep this time but it usually beeps, and continues beeping even after exiting the post. Here are a couple screen shots of what pops up, it’s quite alarming especially when beeping occurs.

I just had this happen to me and landed here. I thought it was an amber alert or something, but no notification. Then when I swiped down I saw a media player display that said “device being scanned” just as described here by others.

Went to click on a story about a 25,000 pyramid then my phone beeped loudly twice then I checked and it said “your device is being scanned”

Yes that’s what mine said! What is it?

Same with me tonight i’ve had the latest update but that was creepy.

my phone wasn't even turned on and i got the notification. I just wanna know why and what it means.

Every reply is just confirming the same problem. Has anyone replied with an answer yet?

Please see prior posts as there are a couple of them with screen shots. I just had this happen to me tonight and am wondering why it happened.

What is the sudden popup on my iPhone, that says and shows “your device is being scanned” and then 3 loud beeps??
