Part of an animation made in Motion does not work in FPCX.

I made a Title Template where I have a rectangle that goes from 10% scale to 100% scale through a Ramp behaviour at the very beginning of the project timeline.

The animation works well in Motion and in the FCPX Project Browser, but it won't work in the FCPX Viewer after I placed it on the FCPX timeline. I haven't used any keyframes in Motion but only behaviours.

I also tried to render that part of the video but the problem persists.

I have checked the settings and both in Motion and in FCP I have HD at 30 FPS. I really don't know what else to try.

Any hints?

Okay - I can see right away that there are 4 published parameters that are "under behavior" control. Publishing parameters under behavior control results in parameters that don't work in Final Cut.

You have Scale X, Scale Y, BG Background [opacity?], and BG Blur Amount with "gear icons" (behaviors attached).

Unpublish these and run the Title in Final Cut. Everything should work as is.

You have to figure out some *other level* of object to apply Scale X, Scale Y, BG Background and BG Blur Amount. Usually, you can go up to the Group Level of an object OR you can apply Custom Behaviors OR you have to come up with some other creative way to publish *the function* of the parameters you want without publishing those parameters under direct behavior control... It can get quite challenging!

Auch! That is quite surprising to me. If I think on a higher level, generally once you animate something then you want some "tweaking knobs" that slightly changes the "behavioural curves" of your animation and such "tweaking knobs" often happen to be the the parameters of some behaviours.

In the meantime, I happened to make it work just by moving the Speed In/Speed Out behaviours on an "element" level rather than a "group" level, see below.

Very strange... and somewhat confusing.

Ramp Settings

Rectangle Transform settings

Published Parameters

Rigged Parameters

The final result

A bit of explanation: I have two identical rectangles: in the first one only the border is displayed, whereas the internal is used as a mask on a background clone (that I can move, zoom in/zoom out).

Both of the rectangles are in the "Magnifier" group, whereas the cloned background is out because it shall not inherit the position of the "Magnifier" group but shall be somehow "fixed".

The Speed In/Out rigs are used to determine how fast the magnifier effect kicks in. In particular, in these sliders I are The End and Start Offsets of the Ramps, respectively, of:

  • Magnifier Scale
  • Background Blur
  • Background Color Opacity

Both the background Blur Amount and Background Color Opacity animations work fine, but the the Magnifier Scale is not animated at all. It just appears in its final Scale.

The other two background clones are to give some color and blur effect to the actual background.

I am sorry if I did some no-sense but I am very new to Motion and VFX in general. :)
