When I try to create a new folder while creating custom location for my downloads, The New Folder tab doesn't work.. when I click it nothing happens until press "Esc" . I have to manually go to the directory using Finder and create a new folder every time.
Has anyone faced the same issue? Any suggestions?

It is now 17 December 2023 and this issue is still happening. It started about 1 month ago. An update must have disabled this capability. Yes, it is really annoying. The entire screen goes grey when I try to create a new Folder to file a downloaded file.
When I download from the web for example a report in PDF or a word document (from different recognised organisations) and wish to create a NEW FOLDER in which to save the resource my Finder window freezes and I have to manually restart my machine with a Force Quit. Apple support doesn’t appear to be familiar with this bug.
Filed the report.. but was surprised by this bug.. probably trivial to resolve but is really irritating
