Apple Pencil cracks on both sides

Never dropped the pencil and have recently discovered cracks on both side of the pencil . After searching the web realised a lot of other people are facing a similar situation. Pls see attached image . I have an apple + care cover n my pencil is covered been not 6 moths from purchase .
