How to Disable the Constant "Update Apple ID Settings" without Enabling Two-Factor Authentication?

For the past few years, I have been getting the annoying "Update Apple ID Settings" popup on my iPhone 6s Plus. It always requires me to sign in, says my account is locked, requires me to answer my security questions, sends me an annoying spam email saying my account is unlocked, then lets me input my password to remove the popup. It repeats this annoying process every 2-3 days and is extremely annoying to go through. I read that this is because I do not have two-factor authentication enabled. I DO NOT WANT two-factor authentication. Is there any way to disable the annoying "Update Apple ID Settings" popup WITHOUT enabling two-factor authentication?

I had this problem for almost a year, across all my Apple devices, with no solutions from forums, Apple support. Finally, an Apple Support tech suggested that, since my iPad seemed to suffer the worst of the constant having to log in, get locked, answer questions, relog in, that maybe there was a sync problem with the iPad. Logged out of Apple Id on the iPad, waited 15 minutes for it to back up and log out. Logged back in. The iPad works, the phone works, the MacBook works now without the annoying "Apple Id Update". What was actually suggested was an "elimination diet" of logging out of all devices (after back up) then logging back in one by one ensuring the device works properly, until finding the culprit. Got lucky on the first one.
