AirPrint no longer functions after 17.1.1 update on iPad
After the 17.1.1 update on two iPads, can no longer print to a Canon printer via AirPrint. The printer is not the issue as we can still print to it via a MacBook Air.

If your printer supports AirPrint - is set-up correctly and was working as expected prior to the iPadOS17 update - you may find that restart of your network components will resolve the problem. You’ll need to restart your network devices in the correct order. Assuming that you WiFi Router provides DNS services for your network, restart devices in this order - allowing time for devices to fully boot/restart prior to restarting other devices:
Restarting your iPad, after restarting other devices in the correct sequence, is most simply achieved by a forced-restart of the iPad:
If you continue to have difficulties, check to see if your iPad is using the new WiFi Private Address feature. This feature is intended to provide additional privacy and security when using “public” (untrusted) WiFi networks.
Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Network / SSID] - tap the “i” icon - Private Address
The Private Address feature is largely unnecessary for your home WiFi network; if enabled, Private Addressing can interfere with anticipated operation of other devices, such as AirPrint/Airplay. In such circumstances, you may need to disable this feature - and can be enabled or disabled for each individual network.
Use private Wi-Fi addresses in iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7 - Apple Support
So! It’s now how many months and how many iOS updates since this thread started? I STILL cannot print from iPad.
iPhone (different iOS) WILL print. So, any work I’m doing on iPad that I need to print, I must use my phone to do that printing. Yes, you can do a full-on reset and it will print for a few hours, but after time, we’re back to square one with the error message.
I now use iPad exclusively for work, and restarting for every print job or having to use my phone to print isn’t sustainable. It’s maddening that this is still an issue.
Will it ever be addressed? Are these forums read by anyone at Apple who can escalate? Are we out on a dry beach here just flopping around??? Begging for resolution 🙏🏼
Thanks, I tried all of these solutions still does the same. Can’t print from two iPads with 17.1.1 update, MacBook Air still works.
My iPhone 14 cannot print after the update. Reset the phone, the gateway and the printer with no luck. Surely Apple is aware of this issue! What’s the fix Apple?
I did all of these in proper order and still can’t print. Apple had to have known this issue prior to release.
i also can’t print to my HP desk jet from iPhone or iPad.
Very frustrating, common APPLE send out a fix please!
Doesn’t print after downloading & installing 17.1.2 either
Nope. Still can’t print. Ugh.
I updated to 17.2.1 today was hoping that would resolve the problem. It did not!
Same for me. Canon MG7200. I have ordered a new printer to see if that will work. Very frustrating.
AirPrint on iPhone and iPad also not working with HP printer after updating to 17.1.1 … INFURIATING!
Unable to AirPrint on my Canon mf244 printer after both of my iPhone and iPad upgraded to iOS 17.1.2, my old iPad has iOS 12.5.7 has no issue. What is the best/safe way to resolve this problem.
