My AirPods won’t update the firmware passed 0B896a and I checked the serial numbers and they all match up with the ones provided

So I am having trouble connecting my AirPods to my iPhone and I searched it it sayed that it should have a firmware but I have a diffferent one that is 0B896a

and I don’t know if they are real even though I checked the serial numbers and they were correct

Seems the firmware only updates if they are connected to a Mac or Apple device which is updated to the latest OS version. About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support


If you are using older hardware / software, you might have to make an appointment and take them to an Apple Store for help if you want the firmware to update. It can be done quickly using a Mac.


Tip: To update AirPods firmware using an iPhone with the latest iOS 17 version installed:

Leave AirPods connected to power overnight with the iPhone connected to wi-fi close by,

so they can update automatically
