Music not working after ios17 update

I updated my ipad to ios17 two nights ago. Tried to play from a playlist yesterday, one played then it stopped, nothing would work.

I restarted the ipad, same thing happened.

I did a reset as advised, no change.

I did something else that I'm not allowed to mention, apparently (got a message saying my post had been "edited" but it was actually removed, thanks for nothing guys), also didn't work

Restarted again

Played one song from the playlist, then wouldn't play

Tried again this morning, won't play.

Same here. 6th gen iPad Music app is broken. Also tried the other apps which works with Apple Music library and they also don’t work. Tried everything including wiping out my iPad and starting over to 3rd party repair from my pc to no avail. Had to revive an old iPhone 6 to use as an iPod with old fashion wired earphone outlet to listen to music. Last time I update an older apple product older than 3 years. The iPad was working great on ios16.

It appears we are all having exactly or very similar issues with the freezing and non operation of the Music App as you have & the many other complaints , since updating to iSO 17. Even the apple outlets & repair centers have agreed. But has apple admitted that they are the cause of these issues and what are they doing about it. I will hesitate to update in the future and certainly makes me question purchasing apple products in the future.

iPad Pro Second Gen - Same issue as everyone else on this thread.

Running iPadOS version 17.1.2. Can't get past 1 song in the native music app before it hangs. Restarting, hard resetting, nothing working so far. I also have the C's music app since I prefer that interface and that also fails after playing 1 song. All my music has been downloaded and saved to my local library.

Updating to 17.2...hopefully this fixes things

I’m suprised this issue has been around for a month since I only noticed problems with my iPhone 12 on IOS 17.1.2 less than a week ago.

same issues as others, wrong artwork, Apple Music stopping playing & refusing to restart. All my music stored on Imac is copied from my CDs, none from downloads. Could not sync to my iMac (Retina 5K 27” (mid 2015) running OS Big Sur v11.7.10). In desperation I deleted Apple Music app completely from phone and reinstalled.Mac would not sync with phone unless Sync music turned off in music app on phone. When I did this phone would not do anything unless sync feature turned on. So basic problem is I cannot get Apple Music on phone and iMac to connect with each other, phone only wants to connect to Cloud.

this is hard to explain but my complete music library shows in the music app on my phone but the physical data is not on phone (have checked my iCloud account and it’s not there either), but music plays streaming from net over mobile data/WiFi. Been using iPhones for 10yrs and never had these problems till now so immediately suspected latest IOS update.

message to Apple, I simply want to copy music I have copied from CD from my iMac to my phone without linking it to any cloud service. Should be a perfectly simple process, as it has been up to now. You MUST fix this -NOW!!!!!

A salutary reason to to collect your music on physical media such as CD not rely on intangible downloads!

The recent OS17.1.1 has "destroyed" the functionality of my "music system dedicated Ipad 6th Gen"

Despite protracted communications with Apple, there is no admission of a fault, let alone an indication of an imminent resolution.

My problem occurs on both IOS 17.1.2 and Mac OS 14.1.2 (23B2091). I have performed numerous troubleshooting recommendations, including deauthorizing all my devices and authorizing just one Mac, downloading the purchased songs multiple times, etc. Nothing works. The music downloads, and I can immediately play the song on my Mac. Then, after trying to sync my iPhone 15 Pro Max, my tunes did not sync to the iPhone and stopped playing on my Mac. Apple has done it again. Just as we had issues with HDMI and playing Amazon videos, we now have security issues and issues with Tunes. Maybe Apple will take over a year to fix this problem as they did with the HDMI issue. Do not hold your breath.

Unfortunately it did not work for me. I even did a total wipe and reinstall and the problem persisted. Very worrisome if apple thinks this is a solution which would mean they are not trying to fix this. As I need an extra device to play music on my bedside, I revived an old iPhone 6 and using it as a music player with an older iOS and the Music app works with my iTunes Match for I downloaded tons of my CDs and apple purchased music.

I'm having the same issue as everyone else, i have an iPad 7th generation updated to iPadOS17 and my Apple Music will play 2 or 4 songs and stop, also has trouble logging in to my apple music account. I have turned of, uninstalled and reinstalled apple music and no change. I am down loading 17.2 to see if that works but am afraid if i do i wont be able to back out the 17 update. I found this process online but don't know if it will work.

How to remove downloaded software updates

  1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings and tap General.
  2. Select iPhone Storage or iPad Storage.
  3. Locate and tap the downloaded iOS software update.
  4. Select Delete Update and confirm you do want to delete it.

Any input would be appreciated, oh and at least Apple music works perfectly on my Galaxy Phone, no problems with a Droid operating system.
