Computer slow after Sonoma upgrade

I upgraded to Sonoma, and now my iMac barely works at all.


iMac 27″, macOS 14.1

The new macOS has some background tasks to complete before things settle down and get back to normal.

You can use the Activity Monitor to check. see > Activity Monitor User Guide for Mac - Apple Support


You may also have some AV-ware, Clean-ware or other old incompatible software that is not playing well.

For that you can get and run EtreCheckPro on your Mac, from > https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html

and post the report, as per > How to use the Add Text Feature When Post… - Apple Community
