Uploading photos to photo printing website

I want to print some photos from a photo printing website that I have used many times in the past, just recently two weeks ago. Today I tried to drag and drop photos from Mac photos directly to the website as I would usually do, and I am getting a low resolution notification. I am seeing that when I drag and drop my MacBook gives me that message very briefly as a notification top right screen. This has never happened before and I am baffled as to why this has started to happen and how do I get the drag and drop to work for a full res edited photo. It was so simple before this past week and it just all of a sudden stopped working. I have just updated to Sonoma 14.1.1 so wondering if that has something to do with it.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.1

The thing is, drag and drop isn't actually supported in Photos. What happens when you use that process seems to depend on which version you're in, or maybe where you drop it or, well, we don't know because it's not supported-- it's not documented.. Sometimes you get the preview; sometimes the thumbnail; sometimes the un-edited version; sometimes the original--sometimes you get nothing at all. I imagine different people might expect it to do different things, since there are so many different versions of the pictures. I will drag and drop into a text or maybe an email or other places where it doesn't matter much, but I look to see if I got what I wanted. If it's worked for you, you were lucky.

You can use the upload routine from the browser but, for me, to get what I want I use File>Export>Export nn Photos and put the pictures in a folder on the desktop. I can control the picture's size and quality and strip or include personal metadata. I may then drag them from the folder to the web page, and delete the folder later.

Thanks for your concise reply. I have never had this happen since I started using Photos and moving them to places like Shutterfly or Printique. If I have backed up the photos to an external hard drive would it be possible to drag and drop off of that? I was just baffled as to why this would happen so suddenly. Seems like so much extra work to move them to a folder, etc but I do appreciate the advice.

Thank you again for the kind reply.
