Where is the swipe up option to locate phone after watchOS 10.1.1 update?

My watch updated to version 10.1.1 earlier in the week. I just noticed that the swipe up option to get to ping my phone is gone. It now gives me a calendar, my fitness, shortcut to text, and the weather. This is all stuff I have in my infographics face. Why take away this option? Where was it moved to? I cannot locate it anywhere. I don’t need two spots for things on my watch for it to take away two. I’ve tried googling this and cannot find a single thing. Tips led me no where. Am I missing something? If it’s completely gone how do I uninstall the update?

Hate the new change. I want my old swipe up back. Any way to get it back?

But it was so much easier just to swipe up. Why does Apple continually have to take things that work and change them?

To improve them. The swipe up did not work if you were using an app and not viewing the watchface display. Pushing the button works both on the watchface and also when an app is using the screen.

And it is NOT easier. It is exactly the same number of motions. Swipe up and press a button take exactly the same effort. If anything the button is easier, because sometimes a swipe doesn’t work.

I agree! Cannot stand the update. I’m considering moving away from further Apple products. They don’t understand their customers & apparently never misplace their phones inside the house.

So Apple IMPROVED the way opening the Control Center works, and you are going to a different product because you don’t like having MORE capability?

Yes Lawrence I realize that but everyone is trying to be helpful I suppose to make sure this is understood for all.

The person to whom you are replying received an answer in November. The last post before yours was May 20th. It's generally not a good use of anyone's time to reactivate threads that have received the same answer dozens of times and which have gone dormant. There are lots of current threads with no answers that could use help.

The only way I have found to now pinging my phone from my Watch after the new update is to go to the Find My devices on my watch and pinging it that way. Very inconvenient.!

The Control Center moved to the flat oval side button (see picture)

A quick press and release will bring up the Control Center that has the iPhone ping icon.

DO NOT hold the button, as that will bring up the Emergency services display.

If you do not see the iPhone ping icon, then scroll to the end, and tap "Edit" where you will be able to add the iPhone ping icon to the Control Center display.

You should also tell Apple what you would like to see in future watchOS versions, relating to swiping and button actions via

A quick press and release brings up the control center, which has the iPhone ping service.

DO NOT hold the button, as that brings up the Emergency services display.

Tell Apple, and maybe if enough other users tell Apple, it will reach a decision maker.

They did not drop it. They moved it to the flat oval side button (see picture)

A quick press and release will bring up the Control Center, just like it was when you could swipe up.

DO NOT hold the button, as that will bring up Emergency Services.

If you are having timing problems getting the press and release just right, then adjust the following:

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed

I use "Slow". My Wife uses "Slowest"

The slower click speeds also make it easier to bring up Apple Pay, which is a double press and release of the flat oval side button.

Apple is not here, so if you want to tell Apple to bring it back, you need to send feedback

The more users that send feedback, the more likely it will be seen by a decision maker.

Apple is not here, just other Apple Watch users.

You can send feedback to Apple via

And pinging your iPhone is just a switch from a swipe up to a quick button press and release

Use Control Center on Apple Watch - Apple Support

Everything else is the same once you bring up the Control Center display.

And I'm sure the developers actually use what they write. They most likely are using the new software months before any of us see it.

But they are a small sample of users. What makes the product managers, and business managers happen, and makes the developers comfortable about an implementation, is not the same as the millions of users that do not want any changes to the user interface. Most people are OK with change they initiate. And most people that have change put upon them, dislike it. That is pretty much human nature, or at least my observations as a software developer for the past 50 years. Lucky for me, I would on file systems which where the user interface has POSIX standards on how it should behave, so there is not much that we can change that the user will see.

my side button is now completely useless after the update and I am unable to access the control center, the workaround I found was to activate assistive touch and set the gesture double clench to open control center.
on your iPhone Watch>Accessibility>assistive touch (enable)> Gestures (pick a gesture)> control center

Which side button?

Control Center is accessed by a quick press and release of the flat oval side button (see picture)

Use Control Center on Apple Watch - Apple Support

DO NOT hold the button, as that brings up Emergency services.

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed

can adjust the press and release timing so you always get the Control Center to appear. The option is also useful with the Apple Pay double press and release, which can be an issue for some users. I like the Slow setting, while my Wife likes Slowest.

This did not work for me when I hit the side button quick press or not it just takes me to my apps not the control center to ping phone or see battery power left ??? Any other suggestions?

Wrong button. You pressed the round, rotating, sticks out from the case, Digital Crown.

You do a quick press and release of the other button, which is the flat oval button (see picture)

Use Control Center on Apple Watch - Apple Support

DO NOT hold the button, as that brings up Emergency services and the power off button.

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed

“Side Button Click Speed” can adjust the press and release timing, so you get the Control Center display every time. Adjusting The “Side Button Click Speed” is also useful for Apple Pay’s double press and release. There is “Default” (sub second timing of needed), “Slow” (up to a second between press and release), and “Slowest” (up to 2 seconds between press and release). I like the “Slow” setting.

NOTE: Slow and Slowest settings do not mean you have to wait a full second or 2 seconds between press and release. It just means you do not need to be super fast.

The previous Control Center swipe-up has moved to a quick press and release of the flat oval side button

Use Control Center on Apple Watch - Apple Support

DO NOT hold the button, as that brings up Emergency services and the power off icon.

Control Center should then show you the iPhone ping icon (find my iPhone), Battery percentage, Flashlight, Water Lock, Airplane mode, Alarm silence, Theater mode, and all the other Control Center services.

An alternate way to get some of the Control Center services is:

"Hey Siri, find my iPhone"

"Hey Siri, Flashlight"

"Hey Siri, Battery"

"Hey Siri, Airplane mode"

Getting the press and release timing just right can be an issue. You can make it more reliable by changing: Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed “Side Button Click Speed” can adjust the press and release timing, so you get the Control Center display every time. Adjusting The "Side Button Click Speed" is also useful for Apple Pay’s double press and release. There is “Default” (sub second timing of needed), “Slow” (up to a second between press and release), and “Slowest” (up to 2 seconds between press and release). I like the “Slow” setting.
