macOS 14.1.1 App Store Crashes immediately when opened

macOS 14.1.1 App Store Crashes immediately when opened. I've shutdown and rebooted. Since I haven't used the Store recently I don't know when it began. It crashes repeatedly every time I open the App Store. It is instantaneous crash.

I think the problem is in the Discover page. Here's how I got around it.

  1. Launch the App Store.
  2. As soon as you see the window, press ⌘2 repeatedly to move to the Arcade page (doesn't matter if you've subscribed or not; just get off of the Discover page).
  3. Stay off of the Discover page; it seems to be crashing the App Store app for now.

Exactly the same for me. Not sure when I last accesses App Store but today when I tried to access it crashes on startup. Based on some previous posts I have tried the following:

  • Restarting
  • Starting in safe mode
  • Adding a new user and trying from that account
  • Trying safe mode in new account :)
  • Re-installing Sonoma

None of these have fixed it.

Same here. From the crash report it appears to be a bug

I tried these common troubleshooting methods to rectify the issue:

  • Open Activity Monitor and Force Quit appstoreagent (no effect)
  • Used mas command-line tool to sign-out and reset App Store (no effect)
  • Restart in Safe Mode (no effect)

Short of re-installing macOS and all my applications, I am not sure how to proceed either.

From reading Ankush Narula and Djpadz there is a work around and the issue looks like it is a Webkit bug on the Apple update to 14.1.1. If you quickly open App Store and then use the ⌘2 it will take you off the default Discover page and then the app won't crash (unless you click the Discover tab and it will crash). Thanks to all who identified and helped me convince my wife it wasn't just me having this problem.
