The file could not be imported

Hi I'm trying to import srt file into my fcpx. Below is the error message that pops up when trying.


The file could not be imported.

The caption file contains unsupported data or may be damaged.


srt file which i made for test through textedit contains data below.

We can't see it in the forum, but when I copied the text from the notification e-mail, it came with an empty line between each of the lines, "1", empty line, "00:....", empty line, "Hi there" - and that produces the error you are seeing. When I deleted the empty lines, it worked fine.

Make sure that there are no empty lines between the caption number and the timing, and between the timing and the text.

This works:

Hi there


This does NOT work:

When I used “Quote”, I remembered filling in the blank lines in the paragraphs myself. I'm an idiot. I feel sorry for myself for not noticing the problem with empty lines.
