I can't create a new mailbox on my iPhone

I’m trying to create a new mailbox, iCloud. iPhone 14, iOS 17.1.1…following this;

In the Mailboxes list, tap Edit in the upper-right corner, then tap New Mailbox.
Give your mailbox a name. If you have more than one email account set up on your device, tap Mailbox Location and choose the account where you want to create a mailbox.
Tap Save, then tap Done."

Easy enough, but it won’t work. Doesn’t show up.

Any other ideas?

I had same problem. Still don’t have a fix to work through the Mail app on iPhone. But, to get the job done, I did find success logging in to my account at iCloud.com directly. It worked like a charm. Only took a few second to show up on my phone in the Mail app.

Same problem here. I’ve tried about 10 times, with no luck. The last time I tried, the new mailbox appeared and then immediately disappeared. So, what will make it stay??

I can’t create new mailbox. Following all steps in Apple support and it’s not working. Tried 20+ times. I have created around 100 mailboxes before to stay organized.

This is supposed to work. It often doesn’t.
