How to upgrade from MacOS Monterey to MacOS Ventura - and not Sonoma?

Hi,

I'm running a 2019 Intel based 16" MBP (8x iCore9, 64GB RAM) currently on MacOS 12.6.1 (Monterey).

I wish to upgrade to MacOS 13 (Ventura) but do not know how.

Can anyone point me to the steps involved?

I have searched online, but clear guidance is not forthcoming as all available tutorials I've found were released before Sonoma was released and assume Ventura is the latest OS.

I know Apple provide the ability to installed older OS's - but I do not want to do an install - I wish to upgrade.

Any help and pointers very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin Nolan (Dublin().

See the following Apple Support article for information on upgrading to Ventura or other older macOS versions: How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

Those instructions apply to upgrades as well as new installs.

Hi -

I use my Mac for music making, and as part of a PhD in astronomy. In both instances, some of the software I run will not run on Sonoma - so I've no choice, for now, but to upgrade to Ventura (and I need to upgrade as some of the software I need won't now run until I upgrade). In short - I have to be on MacOS13 for now - I suspect Sonoma will be OK to use by spring / summer 2024 - but for now, I've no choice on the matter! I know it _might_ be OK - but some of the software (NASA's HEASoft tools for astronomy analysis) is only validated to MacOS13 and I can't take the chance or I could end up not being able to proceed with my PhD work. Thanks.
