I can't upload anything since updating to Sonoma

I see tons of people have had the same issue, but no solutions. I can't believe this has been happening to so many people for so long and no reasonable answers from Apple.

I recently upgraded to Sonoma so Im wondering if that's the issue. Basically I can not upload a file to ANY Site. I have tried Chrome and Safari. I tried logging in in safe mode. I thought Apple computers were supposed to be easy to use. Ive never encountered such a ridiculous problem on any other computer. How am I supposed to work Apple? Overpriced garbage.

After the update, anytime I try to upload something (video, graphic, photo) I can upload maybe one time. Then if I try to upload again, Safari freezes and I have to shut it down. Doesn't matter where I'm uploading to - social media, video platforms, sometimes even into documents. I have updated to the most recent Sonoma but it has not made a difference. This is extremely difficult to do my work with this and I have not found any help with this problem either.

I had the same issue. Went round and round trying to fix it - reinstalled Sonoma, downgraded to Ventura, re-upgraded to Sonoma - still the same problem.

I finally narrowed in on the problem area when I realised that the problem didn't occur if I plugged my Mac (Mini) directly into my router (i.e., not wireless connection) or tethered using wireless from my smartphone.

In the end it turned out to be an obscure wireless setting called "MTU" - Maximum Transmission Unit. It must have changed during the upgrade and was now too high for my router.

My broadband provider told me to change it from the default (1500) to 1280. That worked right away.

Hope this helps someone else!

I am also running into the same issue uploading files since switching to Sonoma too. It seems to fix itself somehow over the course of a few hours of troubleshooting, but then I run into it into the future over and over again. Here's what I think is happening and my troubleshooting issues that seems to fix it after tearing some hair out. So I'm using an odler 2020 Mac with M1 as well. I'm guessing support for M1 and older devices isn't their top priority with M4 devices coming out now. But try these troubleshooting steps from every article I've read, which eventually works for me:

  1. Try uploading files with Gmail or Yahoo. Those guys have billions to write code for all devices which will override and break and glitchy code that might be stopping you. Once you've manage to upload an attachment on Gmail or Yahoo, then it should work for everything
  2. Delete everything in your trash folder
  3. Delete excessive files in your downloads folder
  4. Try to increase space on your computer by deleting files. Free up a few GB
  5. Try uploading with Chrome in incognito mode
  6. Close all applications and processes
  7. Keep reloading finder
  8. Keep restarting your computer
  9. Give it some time if none of the things worked. There may be tremendous software update downloads or some process that just needs time to finish.
  10. Try number 1 again.

I can't upload anything since updating to Sonoma
