Start Up delay of Apple TV = about 11 seconds

Start Up delay of Apple TV = 11 seconds between pushing the remote’s power button and the appearance of the Home Screen.

This delay was about 2 seconds with tvOS 16 and earlier. Went up to 11 seconds with tvOS 17.

Once started up, there is **no** noticeable delay in starting up individual Apps.

**Only** for initial Start Up.

a) direct Ethernet connection from 1Gbps gateway

b) ATV settings:

Turn On TV with

Remote = ON

c) **only** HDMI input to my Samsung TV = my Apple TV

d) Samsung Preferences:

Source = Apple TV

(Port 1)

I have listed all the Facts.

Beliefs follow:

Can’t seem to blame Network because all Apps individually start up fast.

Can’t seem to blame ATV box.

Direct Ethernet cable from Router - so can’t blame wireless.

SO, that seems to leave tvOS 17 with a 11 second delay - versus 2 seconds with earlier versions.

The answer from both Samsung and Apple = YES.

My former Cable Box is an Active Input. Even a PlayStation Console. As a result, the Samsung or any TV must sense an Active Input and power up immediately.

A Apple TV = non-Active. So the Samsung will take time to come on because it does *not need to*.

Such behavior is considered SOP.

IN short, what I called a problem is **not a problem**.
