I know it can't do WPA3-Personal [SAE] from my online searches. Am I reading correctly? I hope I don't have to lower the wireless security for this free used ATV 3G that I might get.

Apple TV (3rd generation)
If you can set your router to use WPA2, then Apple TV (3rd generation) should be able to connect via Wi-Fi.
I’m not familiar with your router model, and any quirks it may have, but it seems that that setting should allow WPA2 devices to connect using WPA2, and allow WPA3 devices to connect using WPA3. That should work.
Else try WPA2-only first, if available, before switching to the transitional setting.
My router's firmware v7.2.6.21 security options can do WPA2-PSK [AES] + WPA3-Personal [SAE]. This should work, right?
Can old an updated Apple TV 3G's wireless use WPA2-PSK [AES] with an updated Netgear Orbi router?
