iOs 17.1.1 - share button is broken, please advice how to fix the bug

@aaplqbh, thanks for sharing this. This worked for me also and is a far better workaround than force power off.

It turns out just going through the logging out motion till the end until just short of the final step (when the warning on contacts, etc. is displayed) cleared the sharing problem in my case

@aaplqbh, at that point, don’t do anything.. just cancel out. Detailed steps are:

settings/click on your name / scroll down / sign out / enter password . This will land you in a screen that asks “Keep a copy of your data on this iPhone?”. Just cancel out of it.

One last step: click on your name again and turn FindMy ON.

I haven’t tried canceling out even before entering the iCloud password which turns FindMy OFF. If that were to work, it is even better.

This worked for me, with a force reset afterward.

iPhone 13 here.

Same problem with iPad Pro 2nd Gen. / IpadOs 17.2:

Share buttons in the share pane are total inactive. The press animation works but not the sharing process. In addition copying and saving images, or notes or links or... any media is not possible anymore.

A full shutdown and restart of the ipad solves the problem for just one sharing action. After that the issue returns.

Applesupportchat says yesterday that its a known issue and they are working on it...

Yes! Turning off Siri under settings and in the app I was trying to share content with worked! And then doing a reset with the volume up-down and turning off until apple symbol appears seems to have worked. We will see if it sticks. Very frustrating!

try this guys. I don’t know if any of you tried it already or not.

I literally did everything I could to fix it and nothing worked at all. I only had one option to try which is to restore the device using my Mac. I did it and I’m lucky too because at the same time my phone was restored IOS 17.2.1 came out so I updated it. now everything works fine. let’s see if it will come back in the next days.

Same problem for me and turning off Siri and rebooting made no difference, rendering iCloud sharing useless. Have had to upload to Google Drive account in order to share document which rather negates me paying for iCloud+.

Apple certainly no longer the premium product it was ever since they started spending more time creating emoticons and stickers rather than improving overall functionality of iOS.

Even here the keyboard fails to auto type a capital letter after I create a new paragraph. Look:

i think my love affair with Apple is rather wearing thin.

however at least there is some kind of work around by setting up a free Dropbox, Drive or Box account, uploading the file to one of these and sharing a simple link that way.

This fix worked for me. I’ve struggled with this issue for months, but never associated it with any particular update or app. I now think it might be linked with turning on Siri, probably in combo with an update. I normally have Siri disabled, so I turned off every setting I could find associated with it and things are working again. Thanks!

Honestly, this has been happening on my iphone 13 pro for almost a year now. Latest iOS and apps. It's extremely frustrating.

I've tried everything on this forum thread, and the only thing that works is to hard restart the phone, wait a few minutes, then boot up and it's usually back. Sometimes for a day, sometimes for only a few minutes and the bug bites again. Sometimes I have to do the hard restart several times.

Airdrop requires Bluetooth and Wi-Fi “on”. Your Wi-Fi is not on.

This worked for me. But it again resurfaces after a a couple of days. Have to restart again to fix it. My wife has iphone 13 and she does not have this problem

I have been having this problem for several months on my 15 pro, almost every day. I installed IOS 17.3 about 4 days ago and have not had the problem since! If this did indeed fix the problem, I wish Apple would post to this thread to confirm that they found a fix.
