ipod classic won’t sync
My 7th-generation iPod classic, 160gb SSD, suddenly won’t appear in Music to sync, even after restoring the software. How do I get Music to recognize it again?

If you used Restore, you will probably have to set up the Sync options again.
When using Finder, refer to this article: Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with your Mac - Apple Support
Using the screenshot below, which is from the page I linked to (Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with your Mac - Apple Support):
* If no music is added to your iPod (device), it suggests that either all your music has been unticked (unchecked) in your main library or that none of your library is playable. Check that the music can be played by your Mac. As I'm not a Mac user, I am not familiar with the precise way in which you check all of this. You might think that it's the same as iTunes, but it probably isn't. An odd example is that the line Sync Selected artists, albums, genres and playlists is in that order in Finder, but in iTunes playlists is at the start of that list. Odd, I know.
Have you tried installing iTunes and syncing like that? Are there any error messages when connecting your iPod to your computer?

When I select the iPod classic in the Finder window I do not get the screen that the article you refer to shows. All I get is a refreshed Finder window showing four folders; see attached screenshot. I am not using an iPod Touch, but a Classic.
Unfortunately I don't use Finder, so I'm not sure what the issue is.
It might be the SSD that you've had installed, I'm not sure how Finder copes with that. Have you managed to synchronise with this specific iPod before now, and with the SSD in it?
Perhaps someone else might be able to throw some light on the issue.
Again, iTunes is long gone, replaced by Music. I have Music installed and have synced that way for a very long time, up to now. And no error messages appear—the iPod appears in the Finder but Music does not register its presence so there is no mechanism to sync.
This is a very strange issue. I don’t understand why you are unable to sync with iTunes. It works for me. If you install iTunes on your pc, connect your iPod via a USB cord and it should show up. You can use this to backup your iPod, sync it and add music to it.

iTunes is long gone, replaced by Music—which is how I have been syncing for a long time. No error messages appear: the iPod classic appears in the Finder but Music does not recognize it so there is no way to sync.
Like dsch posted on December 2nd, the only window we get when connecting the iPod classic is the one showed. Before, we were seing two times the iPod in the Finder : one with the windows showed, and the other one with the complete Menu : General / Music / Video... it is this last one that does not appear anymore = no more syncing is possible. I am pretty sure that it has to do with the upgrade of the Os. Anyone form Apple honest enough to tell us if this is the problem - and how to resolve it ? Thanks.
Try following the Steps in this Article. If this doesn’t help, What happens when you try? If there are error messages what are they?
I don’t have iTunes anymore, it all happens via Music. And there are no error messages. The iPod classic appears in the Finder but Music never recognizes the device so I have no way to sync the two.
Yes I could sync before, this just suddenly began cropping up in the last few days.
P.S.: Mac OS is 12.7.1. Also, I tried running diagnostics mode and got an error when launching HD stats. But maybe that’s because it’s a SSD not a conventional HD, I don’t know.
Hello. Has this issue been solved? If not, I’ll review the thread and help you out.

No resolution yet, thanks.
