Issues with iPhone SE 2022 touch screen

Hi guys, I’ve got a third generation iPhone SE (2022) and I bought it in early January this year. However, a month after I bought it (in February to be more specific) I started having issues with the touch screen. The issue is intermittent and I sometimes have to tap the screen twice or three times to open an app, to open a photo on instagram or simply when I’m navigating on settings or in any other app I find this issue that at times I have to tap the touch screen twice or three times for it to register the touch/tap.

I have contacted apple support multiple times over the phone and they don’t seem to have a solution for this. The only thing they say is to restore phone, which I don’t think is a permanent solution/fix. Unfortunately there are no apple stores nearby, there’s only an apple authorized service provider.

Tbh, I have gone there multiple times and they have run several tests after which they assure me everything is fine with the phone and the only solution they give is either restore the phone or wait for the next iOS update to fix the issue. Whereas, I’ve been having this issue since iOS 16 and now I’m on iOS 17.1.1 and still experiencing the same issue. I have tried restarting up vol, down vol and hold the power button with no success.

What do you think could be causing this intermittent touch screen issue?

Anyone else seeing these issues? Any suggestions?

Intermittent touchscreen issues on an iPhone can be frustrating. It seems you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already. Here are some additional steps and potential causes to consider:

  1. Sometimes, certain apps can cause touch-related issues. Try identifying if this occurs in specific applications or across the entire system.
  2. Reset All Settings: This option won't erase your data but will reset all settings to default. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This might help if there's a configuration issue causing the touch problem.
  3. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then tap Haptic Touch or 3D & Haptic Touch. Choose the touch duration—Fast or Slow. On an iPhone with 3D Touch, you can also choose the pressure needed—Light, Medium, or Firm. Test your new settings on the image at the bottom of the screen. Adjust how iPhone responds to your touch - Apple Support (IN)
  4. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    1. Restart the device. That's it.
    2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  5. If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will not erase your data but will reset all personalized settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings and confirm the action. Note that you will need to reconfigure your settings afterward. All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
    1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
    2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
    3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
  6. Make sure you have the latest updates installed.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.
