iOS 17.1.2 update touch screen lock

I updated my new iPhone 15 Pro Max to iOS 17.1.2 this morning. After the update appeared to be complete, my touch screen was unresponsive. I tried the volume up/volume down/power restart and that was ineffective. I have fixed the problem by resetting and restoring from iCLOUD, but what an unApple like pain in the butt. I understand some people experienced this with the iOS 17.1.1 too, but I did not. Whazzup Apple?

iOS 17.1.2 Update Locking Screen:

I never experienced this (any don't recall seeing it one these forums while taking part). But, I've seen plenty of reports of overheating since the updates debut. So, maybe it is overheating that is causing this? So, see about clearing internal space:

Troubleshooting an Overheating iPhone:

Perform the following:

A. Cool Down the iPhone:

For a few hours, perform the following...

  • Power Off: the iPhone for a bit
  • Unplug: any Cables
  • Place it Atop: Laptop Cooler
  • Keep it in: an open space
  • Keep it Out of: direct sunlight

then...

B. Clear Space Using my User Tips:

See if you need to clear lots of space. System resources may be using up too much services, making it overheat. Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. So, the maximum internal storage capacity never increases, even if you upgraded your iCloud plan. Learn More here: What's the Difference Between Device Storage and iCloud Storage? Apple Support

So, what to do...

Clear Space, Using my User Tips:

Then...

C. Report this to Apple...

Overeating iPhone and draining iPhone batteries are a well-known issues. Power is a big concern for iPhone series compatible with iOS 17. Question is: "Just how many people have actually reported this to Apple?"

So, do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
