My iPhone 7 overheating (even with limited use).

UPDATE: Hi. I’ve seen that you are using an iPhone 7 that runs iOS 15.x. Because this is unusual, I would like to try a method that helps diagnose whether your iPhone heats up by just being idle or whether it requires certain conditions in order to heat up.

Try this:

• Force Restart your iPhone by pressing the Volume Down button and the Power button until the Apple Logo appears.
• When the Lock Screen appears, press and release the Power button.
• Every 5 minutes for 20 minutes, check your iPhone to see if a temperature increase occurs.

If a temperature increase does occur, there may be a problem with the hardware of your device.

Furthermore, I have seen that you have already used many of the methods that help fix overheating problems on the software aspect. Based on this, I think your device may need to be checked by a professional.

Overdeating iPhones:

I see your device is an iPhone 7 with iOS 15. If that is not the case, have you installed this iOS17, yet?

Report this to Apple...

Overeating iPhone and draining iPhone batteries are a well-known issues of the iOS17 update. Question is: "Just how many people have actually reported this to Apple?"

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
4. Proceed from there as necessary

• Keep it in: an open space

See if you need to clear lots of space. System resources may be using up too much services, making it overheat. Internal storage cannot be upgraded. Hi - this seems very unusual.

In order to identify the problem further, the following information would be greatly appreciated:

• Which iPhone is this and which version of iOS is it running?
• Is there any specific triggers that cause this?
• Have there been any incidents that you think may have degraded the health of your iPhone? (Drops, visible wear, contact with liquid, degrading battery health)
