hello, there is a file on my files app and I try to delete it because it’s a video I don’t want on my phone anymore. And it says files doesn’t exist but I still see the cover of the video and it’s a video of my old friend and I don’t want that on my files app. I tried iPad did not work and restarting phone. Someone please help.

The file probably no longer exists. To clear its icon, in the Files app, tab the Browse tab (bottom right), tap the “…” icon (top right), tap Edit and deactivate every single location (iCloud…). Restart the iPhone et reactivate the locations.

Apple fix this!!! this is ridiculous
Having been searching for this solution for myself, I can verify that this works.
Please be aware, though, that if you do this, it will clear all of the files in the recents folder. Be sure that you have access to these files elsewhere before performing this fix.
I would like to update this answer after forgetting about it for a while; after restarting my phone, all of my recent files did return, less the corrupted file.
So, this fix will temporarily delete all of your recent files, but they should return upon restart.
It’s absolutely ASTONISHING this is still an issue. In fact this issue is so bad that if you try and download a file off Safari that has the same name AS that corrupted file. The file that gets downloaded will get corrupted too. This absolutely needs to be dealt with
