iPad cases and model numbers
I've been told to go to settings, general, about, and touch the M model number to reveal the A number, but nothing happens when I touch the M model number.

What iPad year and model do you own?
If you own an old/er iPad model on an older iOS/iPadOS, then those instructions may not work.
Your iPad, if NOT an iPad Mini model, will have the A model number on the back of your iPad, right under the large “IPad” name.
