Trying to figure out model number of iPad 10th Gen.

HI, I'm trying to find the model number for my grandsons Apple iPad 10th Generation, but all instructions I can find nothing is helping.

In the settings in "About" the model number starts with an "M" and is 8 digits long, MPQ13X/A but the person I rang to get a quote for a new screen says it should start with an "A" and have 4 numbers after it.

I looked on the Apple support page to look up model numbers and every iPad they have has model numbers starting with an "A".

I then read that if I go into the settings and into "About" and down to the model number starting with "M" I can click on it and the model number starting with "A" will show up.

I tried this a few times and nothing worked.

I also read that the model number will be printed on the back cover under the apple. But when I looked there is nothing at all written on the back cover.

I also read that if you go to look up your coverage in Apple Support you can put in your serial number and it will show your model number and purchase details.

But when I did this it only came up showing "Your coverage has expired" and the date that the iPad was purchased.

If I type in the model number starting with "M" into the search bar on the Apple support site nothing specific comes up only all different apple products.

I don't know why I can't find the model number beginning with A for the iPad but it has given me so much trouble and now a huge headache.

I can't even find any way to contact Apple themselves directly for help so Im hoping there are some Apple users here in the community that can help me in some way to solve this problem.

I'll be forever greatful to you if you can help me to work this out.

Again, needing to find out the model number starting with "A" follwed by four numbers for an iPad 10th Generation.

"About" settings has a number beginning with "M"and 8 digits, (MPQ13X/A) and doesn't display the "AXXXX" model number when you click on it.

And there is no writing at all on the back cover of the iPad.

Hoping someone can help us, thank you xx

Hi again. I can’t understand why the other number is not revealing itself, but as xWauwau points out above, the M number you initially quoted, should be model A2696.

Thanks for your reply, as I said in the original post there is nothing printed on the back cover of the iPad.

I have restarted the iPad a number of times as you suggested and then tried clicking on the "M" identifier again a few times hoping that the "A" number will show but it still not showing anything.

I'll try connecting it to a computer, but I have no idea how I go about finding the information once I connect the iPad.

I'd be greatful for any advice you have to add for this option.

And tgankyou for the suggested model number, I'll go with this one and hope it is correct until I can find somethink via the computer connection option.

stedman1, thanks for your reply, yes I am looking in the same place, Settings > General > About > but when I get down to the model number as shown in your picture my iPad does not show an "A" and four numbers. It shows an "M" and eight digits.

And I have clicked on this "M" number on a number of occasions to reveal the "A" number as advised by quite a few people, but nothing shows up when I do, although I'm told the "A" number should show up. I've even restarted the iPad a handful of times as suggested and it didn't work.

And as stated in my original question posted I have also checked the back of the iPad, with a torch to help light it up and also with a magnifying glass to double check, and I have no writing at all on the back of the iPad, only the apple symbol in the centre.

This is why I'm so stumped. Everything that is suggested on the Apple Support website I have tried and have had no luck.

I've also looked up some other websites that list the "M" Identifier numbers as well as the "A" model numbers for every iPad from the very first ones released up to the most current, and the 10th Generation ones that have listed, there are four, all have different "M" Identifier numbers from the one that shows in my About menu, so I'm very confused.

I'm now wondering if this could possibly be a fake iPad, even though I purchased it brand new from a reputable store and it was registered for the warranty with Apple and is running using a current Apple Account.
