Friend Texts Me Instagram Videos but the Thumbnail and Actual Video are Different

My friend will send my wife and I funny videos from Instagram in a group text. My wife and I see the same thumbnail but when I click on it, I get an entirely different video than she did - it’s not the video that my friend sent.

85% of the time the thumbnail and videos match up but sometimes they don’t, often to hilarious results.

I've tried googling this to see if others are noticing the same thing but no results. I’m probably just using the wrong terms.

Has anyone else experienced this or come across similar reports? I’d like to find a way to fix it.
