Viewing linkable HTML text files on iphone 14 plus with ios 17

Hi there I need some help on this issue. I have a manual for work that I want to install on my iphone 14 plus. It is around 2400 small HTML text files in a folder, a couple of kb each say. There is a master index file in which you open and then you can hyperlink a path through the manual very quickly to get to the page you want.

This worked quite well on my old android but I can't seem to get it to work on the new iphone? I uploaded the folder with all the little files to icloud then opened the File App and downloaded it into the phone about 24Mb.

It seems that the File App will open each page and the index page but will not allow the hyperlinks to work on these HTML text files?

Has anybody ever encountered this issue and what third party app works?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Files app uses all Cloud Drives (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Flickr, box, AmazonDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.). By default, it uses iCloud Drive.

On an Android which Cloud Drive were you using for Linked HTML files? Try to use the same. Probably you were using a File Manager app on an Android device.

The Files App. app on iOS may not directly support hyperlink navigation within HTML files as some Android file managers do. However, there are a few alternative approaches you could try:

1. Use a Dedicated File Viewer/Editor App: Consider using a third-party app from the App Store that specializes in viewing or editing HTML files. Apps like "Documents by Readdle," "File Viewer Plus," or "Textastic" might provide better support for hyperlink navigation within HTML files compared to the native Files app.

2. Convert HTML to PDF or eBook Format: Convert your HTML files into a PDF or eBook format. There are various online tools or software available that can convert HTML files into PDF or eBook formats. PDFs or eBooks tend to retain hyperlinks better across different platforms and devices.

3. Create an Offline Website: If the HTML files represent a structured manual, consider converting them into a small offline website. You could use tools like Calibre or website converters to package the HTML files into a compressed offline site that you can navigate using a browser app like Safari on your iPhone.

4. Explore Other File Management Apps: Experiment with different file management apps available on the App Store. Some apps might offer better compatibility with HTML hyperlinks and might provide a smoother browsing experience for your manual.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure that the hyperlinks within the HTML files are properly formatted and point to the correct paths relative to the file locations on your iPhone.
  • Check if there are any iOS restrictions or settings preventing hyperlink functionality within HTML files.

Give these alternatives a try to see if any of them help resolve the issue with navigating hyperlinks within your HTML manual on your iPhone 14 Plus.
