Does the Apple TV app display 4K content to an external monitor from an iPad Pro after the iPadOS 17.1.1 updates?

I have an iPad Pro connected to my 4K monitor through an Apple USB-C to Digital Multiport Adapter and an HDMI cable. Disney+, Starz and Netflix display 4K content without any problems. The Apple TV app plays audio but no 4K video, showing a black screen on the monitor, with no error message on the iPad screen which shows the player controls. Max changed their subscription tiers, and its Max app shows the same symptoms as the Apple TV app, but the symptoms are explained by the subscription changes. I have not seen any changes in the Apple TV+ subscription regarding being able to display 4K content. The Apple TV app used to display 4K video before the iPadOS 17.1.1 update.

I have troubleshooted with Apple Support, but they have yet to test this setup on one of their iPad Pros with a 4K monitor. We have yet to find anything wrong with my setup.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 17

So, it depends on the exact model iPad Pro that you have, as well as the specific content properties.

Thanks for the information. It does not answer the question I asked, but it helps to know that iPhones starting with version 15 are now capable of displaying 4K content to an external monitor. I found I can use my iPhone to display the 4K video while streaming from Apple TV, but the sound has problems. Dialogue is coming out of the right rear speaker instead of the front center speaker.

My 12.9-inch, 3rd generation iPad Pro can't display 4K video while streaming from the Apple TV app using Apple's USB-C Digital to AV Multiport Adapter with an HDMI cable even though the audio works fine and there is no error message. I found I can get the video to work if I download the content and play from the downloaded copy. It didn't have this problem before the iPadOS update.

It would be helpful if someone at Apple could test whether there is a problem with Apple TV specific to these setups. I've already troubleshooted with Apple Support regarding the iPad Pro display problem. The only thing I haven't tried yet is resetting my iPad to factory settings.
