STRANGE CHINESE MESSAGE RECEIVED DURING MY MAC UPDATE

I left my Mac M1 mini on last night so that the operating system could be updated. During the updating process, the computer started talking to me in a language I think was Chinese. There was also some wording on the screen which I was unable to read before it disappeared. I checked my computer this morning and found that the operating system was now Sonoma 14.1.2 which I think is the updated Mac OS. Has anyone any information on this? Have I been hacked and are all my passwords which are kept securely in a Sparse Image folder (literally hundreds of them) been hacked? I should add that via my iPhone 8 in the last few weeks I've received several calls and voicemails in Chinese. When I checked the origin of these calls, they came from a source advised as spam or fraudulent.

I was aroused from a deep sleep when I became aware of the Chinese message (The Mac is in my bedroom) so my recollection is somewhat hazy but I think what happened was the Chinese voice woke me up and I only caught a glimpse of the message on my monitor before it disappeared. Then I think the Mac restarted and showed the login page before going back to sleep because I didn't login. Thanks for your help and I feel reassured that the Chinese government hasn't hacked any state secrets.
