You can use the Magic Keyboard without Touch ID on this iMac. Touch ID will only work on computers with Apple Silicon.
According to Apple, none of the current keyboards would be compatible.
You would need a A1644 or A1843 model.
The version running on the iMac 2013 is macOS 11.7.10.
A 2013 iMac is only compatible with up to macOS 10.15 Catalina. A 2014 or later iMac is required to run macOS 11 Big Sur. Do you, by chance, have a 2014 model?
You can check from the Apple menu (top left) > About This Mac.

The Apple Store is confusing as it doesn't list the iMac 2013 but does state 'Mac with macOS 11.3 or later'. The version running on the iMac 2013 is macOS 11.7.10.
I guess I shall have revert to the Apple store technical help.
I'm not overly keen buying a refurb A1644 which is the unit that has been damaged
Thanks
Jack, thanks for this! I haven't checked on the iMac yet as it's my wife's m/c and she is out tonight. I have checked through the receipts and purchase was December 2014 (I was a year out) so I assume as it is running 11.7.10 then it's a 2014 m/c. So does this mean it's likely to work with a 'Magic Keyboard - British English' as shown on the Apple store? The compatibility on the store shows the earliest iMac as 'iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014 - 2015)'.
I'll check in the morning from the Apple menu (top left) > About This Mac.
