I am trying to pair an old Apple Watch to iPhone 11. After scanning it onto the phone it searches to see if the watch iOS is up to date. It says it needs updating then keeps failing.
these are the screenshots. It states because it’s not connected to internet. But the watch hasn’t been set up yet so it’s not possible it would have an internet connection.

FWIW a lot of people have had trouble pairing orupdating a series 3 watch. With the limited memory in a series 3 watch, your best option may be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store near you and let them look at it:
