Apple discontinued the Intel-based 27" 5K Retina iMacs without bringing out Apple Silicon replacements.
There's a 27" Apple 5K Studio Display – but if you buy that display, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse, you have spent as much as a 27" 5K Retina iMac used to cost – without getting the computer.

Sure, buy a Mac mini and mate a 27" display to it. That would be extremely simple to do. You can use the keyboard and mouse from your existing Mac so all you would need is the MM and the display. This would be a HUGE upgrade over your current system in speed too. Buy one with 16GB of RAM and a 1tB SSD which would cost about $1199 add about $279 for a nice 27" display, say a:

You will then have a nice solution for about $420 less than the cost of a comparable 24" iMac.
Unfortunately, Apple no longer markets that model. You may be able to find a suitable unit in the Apple refurbished section of the online store.

FWIW, a number of refurbished 27" iMacs are available from OWC. And they can be configured.
Just bought one recently. A very established and reliable source.

When I have been looking for a particular refurbished unit, I have found that the units available change frequently. If you are determined to have a 27” model, keep an eye out for that size. The 27” was discontinued in March 2022, so the chances of a refurbished unit showing up is increasingly slim, unfortunately.
You are welcome. Assuming you are in the US, it would be: Certified Refurbished Products - Apple
For other locations, scroll to the bottom of the page and check for a link to “Certified Refurbished” as shown in the screenshot below.
You could buy a Mac mini or a Mac Studio and pair it with a third-party 27" 4K (3840x2160 pixel) screen.
I saw one very basic one – that, nonetheless had an IPS panel and near-100% coverage of sRGB – for something like $300 – $350. They're often more than that, and you may have to buy a separate Webcam / microphone, and separate external speakers.
I am using an M2 Mac Mini Pro with a 4K LG 32" 32UN880-B display and once you use a screen of this size, the 27" or 24" iMac screen will appear limiting. The performance of this mini's optional 12-core CPU/19-Core GPU runs circles around my 2020 Core i7 iMac.
If there are application reasons for still using an Intel iMac, then an Apple Silicon processor Mac may not be the current solution for you. At random intervals, you may find 27" iMacs in the Apple Refurbished Store but if you hesitate that purchase for an hour, they may be gone again as the demand remains very high. I ordered my 2020 iMac from there in Spring 2021 and it arrived in two days.
Www.apple.com then scroll to the bottom and let ok for the refurbished store.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't find the screen on my M1 MBA "limiting". However, I will AirPlay one of my Macs to the 55" TV and see.
Thank you!
What is that address?

Maybe I'd be better off to purchase a new 24" iMac to replace my current 2017 27" iMac?
Other recommendations? But... it'd be hard to get used to the smaller screen!
