Sublime Text Application

Sublime Text application appeared in dock without downloading it. It came from nowhere and does not appear in Applications folder. I don’t even know what Sublime Text does although it is very popular and associated with Python programming. Any ideas as to why this happened?

Thanks for the quick reply

The only two things in the past week that I’ve (I hardly download anything from the web) downloaded to my Applications folder are DuckDuckGo and SecureMyEmail softwares. Could the appearance of it be associated to these?

From where did you download them? Software aggregation sites will bundle other software with what you desired. They do that to fund their site which is offering that service for free. Many times that bundled software is some form of malware or adware. Sublime Text is not malware as has already been mentioned.

Sublime Text will not appear on your Mac unless it has been purposely downloaded from its website. It is not bundled with any other software and will not install onto the Dock unless it is dragged and dropped there from the /Applications folder where it installs.

I have been using Sublime Text 4 (license holder) for nearly ten years and it is a syntax-aware programmer's editor, which I have used for Bash, Zsh, Python, Ruby, C/C++, Objective-C, Swift, and even AppleScript development. What I described in the first paragraph is how it came to be installed on my macOS, Linux, and Windows installations.

Thanks for the quick reply but it still appeared in my dock and not in Applications folder. And even more baffling considering that you are a very experienced ST4 user.

Thanks again
