Why do my email attachments have an envelope icon now in Sonoma 14.1.2?
Is this new? Is there a way to disable this because if I accidentally click on the icon it brings up the email which is not something I need to do. Much appreciated.
iMac 27″, macOS 14.1
The issue for me is not the email link: it's that it's made the the File Size info disappear.
Not being able to see at a glance if a file needs to be optimized for upload is a hassle.
And for some reason, Show More doesn't show file size either.

Thanks but I don't see this. So far the only way I can see to remove the envelope icon is to delete the email it was attached to.
Same version of Sonoma yet I don't see what you're describing when I go to Get Info.

right-click on the disclosure triangle next to the sender's name in 'get info' works here...
I don't have a mouse. I'm using my trackpad. How do I open the sub-menu, to disconnect the attachment from mail. (Sonoma 14.2.1)

I believe you just lightly tap the touchpad with two fingers over the disclosure triangle will be the same as a right click with a mouse.
It's there again in 14.4.1 .... Sonoma is getting weird! Sometimes the envelope is there, sometimes not. No solution.

Is it just an indicator of where the file came from, or is it a link to the file deep in the Mail Downloads?
If I link to that image in InD, is it going to disappear when I delete the email?
you do know that a: it's easy to remove the icon. and b: you can just ignore it. anyway, hardly seems a reason to move to a different email app.
