Apple Pencil USB C return, to instead buy a 2nd Generation

I just bought a USB-C Apple Pencil yesterday, but I thought it had pressure sensitivity. I was sure I checked it out online but I guess I missed it? Anyways, I bought it straight from a MacStore and I just tried it and realized it didn't have it. Now I'm wondering if I'm able to return it and instead exchange it/buy a 2nd Gen Apple Pencil, which has what I want.

Apple's policy is that you have 14 days, from the purchase date, to return a product for either a replacement (of the same product), or a full refund. It shouldn't matter that you opened the package and used it ... unless you damage it.
