Why is my Apple ID settings on my computer not allowing me to edit my settings? Message "account changes are restricted by a profile"

When I try to log into my Apple ID settings on my laptop, I get the message that "account settings are restricted by a profile" and the Apple ID menu items are grayed out.

What does this mean? Was my account hacked?

I reset my password but the message persisted.

Ok - With Apple Supports help, I found that I had changed something under System Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy > Preference Restrictions because I saw something on Instagram to stop hackers, then I forgot about it. I had turned off "Allow Passcode Changes" and "Allow Account Changes." DUH - I feel like a dummy but hope this helps others in the same position. 😁
