iTunes refuses to sync with iPhone 15 Pro Max

My music library syncs perfectly to my iPhone 5 and iPhone 8 but refuses to sync with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. It goes as far as "backing up" and then stops. Everything is fully updated. Help?

I have an iPhone 15 Pro - 512 GB and I also have problems Syncing my iPhone with iTunes on a Windows 10 pc.

After several call sessions with Apple support (started begin december) they told me I will have to wait for an update which should solve the problem. Funny remark from Apple support was that the issue needs to be important enough before it gets in one off the following updates. So what I will be waiting till summer? Come on Apple!

Thx "rtln" for your reply, indeed that works. But doing this every time you want to sync... is that what Apple stands for. Let's be honest Apple needs to come with a real solution.

I agree with the idea of some other people in the community: is Apple still interested in iTunes? I truly hope so because it would be a great disappointment for me. But knowing we didn't get any updates anymore for iTunes the last months, it makes you wonder. Although they will need to provide a software to sync your data one way or the other to your iPhone or iPad.

Interesting note: our iPad Air 5th generation with software 17.2 still fully syncs with iTunes without issues what so ever.

Oh, don’t get me started. I’ve been a Mac user for decades and watched it get worse every year. Early 2000’s I think were my favorite years, with all the iTools and content creation and sharing Apple had and then just like that, they killed everything off one by one and focused on content CONSUMPTION! I don’t know where it’s going to end up but I’m not sure I’m going to like it.

…and I am hopeful they will issue a fix for the sync crashing bug as well but you never know. They aren’t particularly sympathetic to customers needs anymore.

Excellent tip! I have an older iPhone - SE and use Windows 11. I've been trying for weeks to get my iPhone calendar to sync with my Outlook calendar. I tried multiple settings including the sync by Wi-Fi and nothing worked. However, after reading your suggestion I updated my iPhone software and viola! Success......

I read quite a while ago the Apple was thinking of not supporting iTunes any longer - that would be a major mistake. I'm a confirmed PC user (Windows) but use Apple devices. It is essential for me to have some means of having them "talk" to each other. Both Apple and Microsoft should accommodate users of multiple devices that do not have the same OS - at least for essential functions.

I got a new iPhone 15 Pro right after Christmas and couldn't get my computer to recognize it. But today when I saw on another forum that it might be the cord, I bought one (USB-C to USB-A) specifically for transferring files and now, my phone is syncing to iTunes. I spent several hours on the phone with Apple Support last week and even asked if it might be the cord. I told them that my laptop didn't have a USB-C port and I was having to use a different cord and was told that wouldn't be the problem. So if you have tried everything else, uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting, updating, and you still don't have an answer, try the cord.

I was also told by Apple Support that they will soon be doing away with the music portion of iTunes altogether and will have Apple Music and Apple Devices for music. ITunes will be solely for podcasts and books. He didn't say when that would occur. But if you download Apple Devices while still trying to use your iTunes, it will disable iTunes.
