Changing font size in notes

I’ve found that the only way to do it, is to increase the font size via notes on a MacBook/iMac.

As long as you have notes on in your iCloud settings, the notes you create on your phone/iPad will also show up in notes on your computer.

1. Choose the note you that you want to edit.
2. Highlight the text of which you wish to increase the font size of.
3. While holding CMD, and press “+” or “-“ respectively, to increase or decrease the size of the font.

The changes will then be reflected in notes across all devices.

Yes, you can. Scroll down the note. A formatting menu should show with different options. If you cannot see the Aa icon on the menu:Open a new note by exiting the note that you are on and clicking on the plus sign on the bottom right corner. Then, click on the Aa icon and you can choose different sizes.

Actually you can essentially change the text size in iPhone notes. When in your note with keyboard up, you’ll see a ➕ on the right at the top of the keyboard. Tap it and it will bring up a task bar where you will see several option including Aa. Tap that and you will see options for different options for text size. You can mix them within the note however you like!

If you have "Text Size" enabled in the command center you can use it to adjust the base font size for just the Notes app, it won't adjust the font size of the document itself, but it does allow you to make the displayed text larger or smaller.

Thanks for your reply. I did say not very helpful, but it was helpful to the extent possible within Notes. My apologies, as my frustration was with Apple and had nothing to do with your answer.

The situation that brought me to this discussion forum was that I copied some text and when pasted into Notes the font was still too large for my purposes, and it was already at the smallest Body size. I found it odd that Apple wouldn’t allow more variability in font size in Notes, as that functionality is in Apple for other purposes such as text boxes. Seems like a no-brainer to me…

This information is wrong, or at best incomplete, and it's pretty sad that straight up misinformation is promoted as the "top-ranking reply" in this thread. People, do better w/ your votes. See Darnz7's reply, which is correct (and posted two weeks before this unhelpful reply), for how to make text size bigger or smaller. From a little testing, there seem to be some issues, but providing bad information is worse than providing no information; PSA: don't do that.

Agree not the most elegant way to do it, but a long way from the OPs “no way to change font size”

It's frustrating that Apple doesn't allow users to change the font size specifically in the Notes app. Currently, the only way to adjust the font size in Notes is to change it across all apps in the accessibility settings, which isn't convenient. It seems like a simple and practical feature to implement, but unfortunately, Apple hasn't provided it yet.

It seems that the new features to change formatting (outside of bold, italics, underline, and strikethrough) is only available on iCloud notes. I was unable to access the size changes until I moved my notes into to iCloud. A little upset their forcing me to save it through their cloud service.

The Font Size Change that you are referring to will exist only if your Notes are on iCloud or the "On My Phone" Folder.

Not sure this is answering the question. Are you saying that selecting Title, Heading, etc. is the way to change font size? Not very helpful. What if I wanted the Body font to be half the size it shows up as when pasting some text into Notes. As the OP’s frustrated response alludes to, why not just simply provide functionality to change the font to whatever is needed by the user? It is what it is, but it just seems so basic. I did see a reply indicating it can be done on the Mac, but Cmd +/- certainly isn’t straightforward or intuitive for the user. I sure wish Apple developers would look at these comments from users, and act on them. I doubt whether any comment in some suggestion box would lead to changes, as it’s clearly not their priority.

In addition to the suggestions provided previously by Chattanoogan you can customize individual Notes or parts of Notes using the Format Menu.

In Notes > Select Text that you want to change > Format > Move Cursor over Font

There are options to change the Font, make it bold, italic etc. and change the size.
